Review – Archos 101 G9 Tablet
Introduction:
If you already own a light and fairly high-powered laptop, you would be forgiven for questioning why one would sacrifice performance over size (and a touch interface) and buy a tablet. I have often been doubtful of the capability and relevance of tablet devices and was interested to see if testing the Archos might change my preconceptions about the concept.

Review – Logic 3 – i-Station ‘Rotate’
As a full-time musician, the idea of using an audio dock for the iPhone has never appealed to me. The principle behind such an accessory is sound (no pun intended!), they are generally affordable and portable alternatives to owning a surround setup. However, most audio docks are marketed primarily as 'music speakers' which require your iPod/iPhone to be in a fixed (and often fragile looking) portrait position. This means that videos will appear smaller on the screen during playback and are difficult to enjoy unless you're sat nearby. Another drawback is that the sound quality often seems 'tinny' and they generally struggle with higher frequencies (e.g, the clashing of cymbals on a drum kit). I was pleased to find that Logic 3 have addressed some of these issues with the 'i-Station Rotate'.
Concept
One of the main selling points of the 'i-Station Rotate' is its clever slide-and-rotate input, which allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to dock up whilst enjoying their movies in landscape orientation. The i-Station is marketed as a portable accessory which can be powered by the included AC adapter with Euro 2pin and British 3pin interchangeable plugs or alternatively 4x AA batteries. Either works fine, but it would have been more convenient still if the device had an in-built rechargeable battery.
